Jim Petty Youth Scholarships
The scholarship fund dates back to the start of Mid Lane Community Chest over 40 years ago. Jim Petty was a driving force behind the program. With our loss of Jim a few years ago, we changed the name of the program in his honor, now known as the Jim Petty Scholarship Program.
In recent history, we have served approximately 100 youth per year.
We (or this program) support the arts as well as sports. In recent years funding has focussed on TSP, summer art programs and swimming. Through the years we have provided assistance to Elmira and Crow High Schools, the Fern Ridge Middle School, Applegate Art Guild and Territorial Sports.
Eligibility is open to all Fern Ridge and Crow Applegate Lorane youth. Assistance is based on family size and annual family income, which is clearly stated on the application form.
There is a standard form that needs to be completed, which is available where you participate or through Mid Lane Cares.
Sharing Among Neighbors Toy Appeal
The S.A.N.T.A. program is a non profit community based gift giving program for families who do not have the resources to buy gifts for their children for Christmas.
Each year since 1992 a large group of dedicated volunteers have sought donations and organized a huge toy giveaway offering families up to two quality gift choices per child, books, a stuffed stocking, and a stuffed toy along with the option of gift wrap.
The vision of the S.A.N.T.A. program is to help all families in need make the holidays a special time for their children. In 2014 we gave gifts to 602 children!
The toy giveaway is held each year on the Saturday before Christmas, at Veneta Elementary School. The next event will be held on December 19th, 2015.
If you would like to give to the S.A.N.T.A. program, we welcome new toys, clothes, and electronics as gifts.
Monetary donations are 100% tax deductible. Contact Alice Nichols at 541.935.3282 for more information.
Eligibility for the S.A.N.T.A. program is as follows:
- Families must live in the Fern Ridge or CAL (Crow/Applegate/Lorane) School District
- Proof of residency must be provided (May be driver’s license or current bill with date, name, and home address.)
- Proof of number of children living at home, birth thru 17 years old (Social security cards and/or medical cards, birth certificates: school report cards for each child, etc.)

Elmira Booster Club
This fund subsidizes youth participation in various community activities. Since 2011, the Elmira Booster Club has donated over $53,000 to Elmira High School athletics and clubs.
These donations include athletic scholarships given year round, a concussion testing system that is a vital tool, used by all the sports programs, Huddle videotaping system, safety mats, and field maintenance equipment and repair.
These funds are raised through the Falcon Country Classic Car Show, Let it Ride Golf Tournament and concessions for football & boys/girls soccer.
We are always looking for new members! Our meetings are on the 3rd Wednesday of every month at 7:00 pm in the Elmira High School Library. Please come by and check us out!
